Our Professional Association's History
In 1977, John Bland, Director of Maryland Alcohol Control Administration met with the
Directors of the Friendship, Pathfinders, Pilot, Samaritan & Gale, Halfway House
Programs, suggesting the formation of an association to speak as a united voice for
all Halfway Houses.
After several meeting, by-laws were written & the group incorporated under the name
of Maryland Halfway House Association. In November, 1994, our name was changed
to Maryland Association of Alcohol and Drug Continuing Care Facilities, to better
reflect the services provided by our members.
