Hope House
Hope House is a residential drug/alcohol treatment facility for adult men and women over theage of 18. Hope House encompasses three levels of care: Inpatient detoxification on a limited basis; intermediate or short-term treatment and extended or long-term treatment. Individuals are assessed utilizing the American Society of Addiction Medicine's Patient Placement Criteria 2R (ASAM PPC-2R) to determine the appropriate level of care based upon individual circumstances and need. The program is funded by the State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County and private donations. Individuals are charged based on a sliding fee scale. Limited private insurance and Medicaid insurances are accepted.

Admission to detoxification, short-term or long-term treatment is based upon a full clinical evaluation utilizing the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Criteria 2 for each level. Patients must have a primary diagnosis of Chemical Dependency to be eligible for service. Methadone maintained patients are accepted for treatment but methadone detoxification is not provided. Individuals are first screened via telephone for preliminary eligibility, then scheduled for a full screening interview to determine the appropriate placement. Individuals diagnosed with a co-occurring psychiatric disorder will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis to determine whether Hope House is capable of managing that disorder within the scope of program services. Referrals can be made by physicians, the legal system, other treatment programs and prospective patients. Applicants must telephone for an appointment. Walk-in service is NOT provided.
Detoxification: 3-7 days
Short Term Residential (ICF): 3-6 weeks
Long Term Residential (ECF): 6-12 months
Detoxification: 2 adults (male and female)
Short Term(ICF): 22 adults (male and female)
Long Term(ECF):14 adults (7 male, 7 female)
Individualized biopsychosocial assessment; medical detoxification for opiates, alcohol, benzodiazepines; individual and group counseling; case management services and referrals; family education program and limited family counseling; physical health services as needed while in residence; psychiatric assessment and treatment when indicated; assistance with job training and placement in the long-term component.
Diagnosis of chemical dependency utilizing the criteria set forth in Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders - IV(DSM-IV). Demonstrated motivation to participate in treatment activities. Full compliance with all program regulations and willingness to submit to random urine drug screening as requested.
Located on the grounds of the Crownsville Hospital Center. Shared rooms (two per room) with one bath to every two rooms. Handicap facilities available. Air Conditioned. Full meals served cafeteria style. Recreation area. Meeting rooms and lounge areas. Nursing services on site. Security personnel on duty.
